THE SECRET PAINTER WITH JOE TUCKER | THURSDAY, 3 APRIL

A funny and thoughtful character study of creativity, class and hidden passions, Joe Tucker's new book The Secret Painter reveals the remarkable life and work of his Uncle Eric, an 'ordinary' man who quietly made the most extraordinary art. Joe will be discussing the book with Neil Griffiths, CEO of mentoring charity Arts Emergency

7:00pm-9:00pm Fort Road Hotel Bar

At a glance, Joe Tucker's Uncle Eric was a bookie-obsessed, messily-dressed eccentric, an erstwhile gravedigger and part-time comedian. And yet behind the scenes, he had made over five hundred paintings by the time his family discovered them, when towards the end of his life he finally asked that his work be shown. A scriptwriter and now author, Joe's first book The Secret Painter is the story of Eric and his compelling hidden world, as well as an exploration of art, ownership and expression.

Entry is free but please RSVP via Eventbrite to guarantee a space.
